Personalised Guitar Lessons

All children are musical! Unlocking their potential can help them find the music lover within.

 

One to one tuition provides an environment where children feel safe and secure to freely explore new musical ideas in a supportive and caring setting, with an experienced teacher guiding them to reach their potential.

With lessons carefully tailored to each child’s needs, I invite my students to share my passion for music by teaching techniques, skills and musical knowledge through songs they love.

 

Tuition on an instrument puts learning into an enjoyable context, and over the years I have observed my students developing increased responsibility and ownership for their learning - not only in music, but across all areas of their school and home lives! 

Learning an instrument has benefits which stretch across all aspects of development! 

• It reinforces hand to eye co-ordination (which can help in improved letter formation in writing!)
• Focussed attention is improved through development of active listening skills
• Fine motor skills are improved
• Inhibitory control is developed - this is the ability to stop yourself and wait for your turn! Very valuable learning.
• Creativity is nurtured through exploration of musical ideas and opportunities to build chord patterns, tunes and lyrics.
• Spatial awareness is developed - an awareness of where things are around you, and specifically for guitar, what your two hands are doing!

Working from each child's unique interests, musical knowledge (reading chord charts, tablature, simple standard notation) is explored in a fun and developmentally appropriate way.

A  special feature of guitar lessons with Serendipity Studio is that part of each session is recorded on a cassette, which the student can then take home and use as a part of his or her practice. This makes at-home practice much more fun and interactive!

 

Tuition is also available for groups of two or three children of a similar age and experience.
